The concentric woven texture radiates from a small central motif, giving the plate wonderful dimension while the openwork rim creates an almost lace-like effect. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ePierced and moulded creamware became an important part of English ceramic production, with celebrated examples produced by Wedgwood, Leeds and other Staffordshire and Yorkshire potteries. This example bears several indistinct impressed marks to the underside, but no legible manufacturer’s mark, so its exact maker remains unidentified.
