A wonderful example of early English blue and white transferware, this antique Willow Pattern drainer combines decorative beauty with historical functionality. Measuring 13.5 inches long by 9.5 inches wide, this pierced drainer was originally designed to rest inside a matching meat platter, allowing juices to drain away while keeping food elevated for serving. Today, these charming pieces are highly sought after by collectors and decorators alike for their distinctive form and beautiful display appeal.
Decorated in the iconic Blue Willow pattern, the drainer features pagodas, bridges, birds, willow trees, and traditional Chinese-inspired landscape motifs rendered in rich cobalt blue transferware. The intricate border frames the central scene beautifully, while the pierced surface creates visual interest and reflects its original utilitarian purpose.
The underside bears a small impressed English pottery mark. Based on the form, glaze, transfer printing, and impressed mark, this piece appears to date to the mid-19th century, when Willow Pattern wares were among the most popular ceramics produced by Staffordshire potteries. The Willow Pattern itself emerged in England during the late 18th century and became one of the most enduring and recognizable transferware designs ever produced.
Today, antique drainers have become increasingly desirable as decorative objects. They display beautifully on walls, easels, shelves, and within collections of blue and white porcelain, adding both texture and historical interest to a room.

Condition
Beautiful antique condition with age-appropriate wear consistent with use and age. Light crazing and manufacturing variations are consistent with antique English transferware. Please review all photographs carefully, as they are considered part of the description.

We have a 7-day return policy on NEW items, which means you have 7 days after receiving your item to request a return. You will be refunded in store credit to be spent at Shoplilliangrey.com within 6 months.
Vintage and antique items cannot be refunded or returned unless it has been damaged in the shipping process. We require photos of the item(s) and packaging, (which will help us to assess the handling process and prevent further losses.) After which point you will be issued a full refund on your order.

If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

Damages and issues
Within 10 days of delivery - Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.
Exceptions / non-returnable items

That item is now yours, we can only refund you in store credit for Shoplilliangrey.com if the item was damaged in the shipping process. (Some items have endured some alterations to their original state and will be sold AS IS. Please take note of each item's description to see if the unique character is suitable to you.)
Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards.
Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item. You have 7 days from the delivery date to initiate your return on NEW items only.
Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded in store credit once approved.
