A beautiful pair of antique Italian transferware plates featuring the historic Colandine pattern in warm brown and creamy white. Colandine is an Orientalist transferware design characterized by an intricate landscape of pagodas, abundant florals, foliage, and fanciful architectural elements. Inspired by English transferware designs of the 19th century, the pattern became popular in Italy and was produced by a number of Italian ceramic manufactories during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These plates were sourced in Italy and date to approximately 1890–1910. Each bears the Colandine pattern name on the reverse along with an underglaze green factory mark. The green mark is partially obscured and not sufficiently legible to confidently attribute the plates to a particular manufacturer. Because numerous Italian factories produced variations of Colandine during this period, we have chosen to leave the maker unidentified rather than make an uncertain attribution.
The rich brown transfer against the softly aged cream ground gives these plates wonderful warmth and makes them especially beautiful mixed with other antique brown and white transferware. Display them on a plate wall or shelf, layer them into a collected tablescape, or pair them with classic blue and white for an unexpected mix. Excellent antique condition with no cracks. One plate has a few small chips along the edge that are primarily noticeable from the reverse. Both have a slightly rough feel along portions of the rim consistent with age and manufacture. Sourced in Italy and part of my Blue, Cream & Brown Collection, they layer beautifully with classic blue and white for an unexpected collected mix. Display them on a plate wall or shelf, or incorporate them into a layered tablescape. Antique ceramics inherently bear evidence of their history and handmade manufacture, including minor variations, crazing, glaze irregularities, and signs of age. These characteristics are part of their individual beauty and should not be considered flaws unless specifically noted above.

We have a 7-day return policy on NEW items, which means you have 7 days after receiving your item to request a return. You will be refunded in store credit to be spent at Shoplilliangrey.com within 6 months.
Vintage and antique items cannot be refunded or returned unless it has been damaged in the shipping process. We require photos of the item(s) and packaging, (which will help us to assess the handling process and prevent further losses.) After which point you will be issued a full refund on your order.

If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

Damages and issues
Within 10 days of delivery - Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.
Exceptions / non-returnable items

Each item has its own unique story, if you are not happy with the item then we hope we can continue your story with our company and find something that suits you better. That item is now yours, we can only refund you in store credit for Shoplilliangrey.com if the item was damaged in the shipping process. (Some items have endured some alterations to their original state and will be sold AS IS. Please take note of each item's description to see if the unique character is suitable to you.)
Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards.
Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item. You have 7 days from the delivery date to initiate your return on NEW items only.
Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded in store credit once approved.
