This is a beautiful 19th century antique English Oak Tantalus with brass details holding three cane pattern cut crystal decanters with it's original lock and key. This piece was aquired at auction and is in excellent antique condition. The tantalus case is made of oak with a brass handle, decorative details and lock. The decanters are cut crystal in a cane pattern with beautiful faceted stoppers. All pieces are in excellent antique condition with two of the stoppers having very minor flea bites to ends and the third stopper some rougher flea bites. It is extremely rare to find these tantalus sets with the original key and the locking mechanism in working condition, thus making this set more desirable in comparison to those without keys. This tantalus dates to 1880, and can sell for as much as $2000-$2500 in this condition with all parts working and the key intact. The wood tantalus case measures 12 5/8" high, 14 1/4" wide, and 5 3/4" deep. Each decanter measures 9" high (to the top of stopper) and 3 1/4" wide,

NOTE: To open the lock and access the decanters push the key inward slightly and turn to the right. The wood tray can then be slid forward and decanters can be removed. To lock the tantalus (with the tray and decanters in their original position) push the key inward slightly and turn it back to the left.
