A beautiful pair of early twentieth-century tea cups and saucers in Spode’s iconic Tower pattern, produced by Copeland Spode in Stoke-on-Trent, England. First introduced by Spode in 1814, Tower has remained one of the pottery’s most recognizable and enduring transferware patterns for more than two centuries. Its romantic landscape depicts the Ponte Salaro near Rome, derived from a late eighteenth-century view of the Italian countryside. Rendered in a wonderfully rich, dark cobalt blue against a warm creamy ground, the scene is surrounded by an elaborate floral border and distinctive gadrooned edge. These generously proportioned tea cups are particularly lovely examples of the Tower pattern, with the rich cobalt decoration continuing around the cups and across the coordinating six-inch saucers. Beautiful for afternoon tea or coffee, they also make wonderful additions to a collected blue and white tablescape or display. The cups bear the early blue printed Copeland Spode’s Tower England backstamp. The saucers bear the same printed Tower backstamp together with Copeland’s impressed factory mark registered under Rd. No. 90067. According to documented Copeland factory marks, the impressed mark was used from 1890 to approximately 1935, while the printed Tower backstamp was introduced around 1902. Together, these marks date the saucers, and this closely associated set, to approximately 1902–1935. Excellent condition with no chips or cracks. Clean and bright with only light surface wear and other signs of age consistent with early twentieth-century tableware. Please review photographs carefully as they form part of the description.

We have a 7-day return policy on NEW items, which means you have 7 days after receiving your item to request a return. You will be refunded in store credit to be spent at Shoplilliangrey.com within 6 months.
Vintage and antique items cannot be refunded or returned unless it has been damaged in the shipping process. We require photos of the item(s) and packaging, (which will help us to assess the handling process and prevent further losses.) After which point you will be issued a full refund on your order.

If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

Damages and issues
Within 10 days of delivery - Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

(Some items have endured some alterations to their original state and will be sold AS IS. Please take note of each item's description to see if the unique character is suitable to you.)
Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards.
Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item. You have 7 days from the delivery date to initiate your return on NEW items only.
Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded in store credit once approved.
