A fascinating and historically significant pair of early English porcelain plates attributed to Spode, dating to the late 18th or very early 19th century.These plates feature a beautifully painted Chinese Export–inspired “Indian Tree” motif, closely related to the early Spode pattern often referred to as “Willis.” The vibrant hand-painted scene of flowering branches and peonies growing from stylized rockwork reflects the strong influence of Chinese decorative arts on Georgian English porcelain. The plates are formed on an elegant embossed floral molded blank, with a distinctive guilloché band in the well—a refined decorative element frequently used by Spode during the Georgian period (circa 1790–1815). On the reverse, the hand-painted red pattern number “216” appears along with small red decorator’s marks, indicating the individual artisan responsible for the painted decoration. Lower pattern numbers such as this were typically assigned to some of Spode’s earliest designs. Both plates display early metal staple repairs, a traditional restoration technique used in the 18th and 19th centuries to mend valuable ceramics rather than discard them. The presence of these period repairs is a wonderful reminder of how treasured these objects were by their original owners. Despite their age and restoration, the plates remain highly decorative and would make a wonderful addition to a Georgian porcelain collection, plate wall, or cabinet display. Both plates measure 8.75" in diameter.

We have a 7-day return policy on NEW items, which means you have 7 days after receiving your item to request a return. You will be refunded in store credit to be spent at Shoplilliangrey.com within 6 months.
Vintage and antique items cannot be refunded or returned unless it has been damaged in the shipping process. We require photos of the item(s) and packaging, (which will help us to assess the handling process and prevent further losses.) After which point you will be issued a full refund on your order.

If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

Damages and issues
Within 10 days of delivery - Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

That item is now yours, we can only refund you in store credit for Shoplilliangrey.com if the item was damaged in the shipping process. (Some items have endured some alterations to their original state and will be sold AS IS. Please take note of each item's description to see if the unique character is suitable to you.)
Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards.
Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item. You have 7 days from the delivery date to initiate your return on NEW items only.
Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded in store credit once approved.
