A charming early twentieth-century pedestal egg cup in Spode’s iconic Tower pattern, produced by Copeland Spode in Stoke-on-Trent, England. First introduced by Spode in 1814, Tower has remained one of the pottery’s most recognizable and enduring transferware patterns for more than two centuries. Its romantic landscape depicts the Ponte Salaro near Rome, derived from a late eighteenth-century view of the Italian countryside. Rendered in a wonderfully rich, dark cobalt blue against a warm creamy ground, the pattern is one of Spode’s most enduring blue and white designs. This classic single egg cup features the richly detailed Tower landscape wrapped around the cup above a simple creamy white pedestal foot. Petite yet beautifully decorated, it remains perfectly suited to its original purpose for serving a soft-boiled egg and would make a charming addition to a collected breakfast or brunch table. Beyond the table, its diminutive scale makes it equally appealing displayed among a collection of antique blue and white china or repurposed as a tiny vessel for a flower or other decorative accent. The underside bears the old blue printed Copeland Spode’s Tower England backstamp. According to documented Copeland factory marks, this Tower backstamp was introduced around 1902. No impressed production date code is present on these egg cups; however, numerous pieces acquired alongside them bear factory date codes from the 1910s and 1920s. Based on the mark, form and context of the group, these examples are believed to date to the early twentieth century. Excellent condition with no chips or cracks. Clean and bright with only light wear and other signs of age consistent with early twentieth-century tableware. Please review photographs carefully as they form part of the description.

We have a 7-day return policy on NEW items, which means you have 7 days after receiving your item to request a return. You will be refunded in store credit to be spent at Shoplilliangrey.com within 6 months.
Vintage and antique items cannot be refunded or returned unless it has been damaged in the shipping process. We require photos of the item(s) and packaging, (which will help us to assess the handling process and prevent further losses.) After which point you will be issued a full refund on your order.

If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

Damages and issues
Within 10 days of delivery - Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

That item is now yours, we can only refund you in store credit for Shoplilliangrey.com if the item was damaged in the shipping process. (Some items have endured some alterations to their original state and will be sold AS IS. Please take note of each item's description to see if the unique character is suitable to you.)
Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards.
Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item. You have 7 days from the delivery date to initiate your return on NEW items only.
Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded in store credit once approved.
