Antique English Brass Inlaid Oak Jewelry & Desk Box with Removable Fitted Tray & Key, c. 1890–1910 – 12”W

A beautiful antique oak box richly detailed with delicate brass inlay, decorative scrollwork, brass corner accents, and its original-style locking hardware and key.

The hinged lid opens to reveal a wonderfully useful removable fitted wooden tray, divided into compartments for jewelry, correspondence, desk accessories, calling cards, watches, or other small treasures. Lift the tray away and a generous open storage compartment is revealed beneath.

Measuring an ideal 12 inches wide, this is one of those antique pieces that is as functional today as it is decorative. Style it on a writing desk for stationery and correspondence, use it as an elevated jewelry box on a dresser, or place it on a library table or chest simply as a beautiful decorative object.

The warm oak grain is especially lovely against the fine brass line inlay and scrolling decoration, giving the box the restrained elegance associated with late Victorian and Edwardian desk accessories.
