A beautiful and less commonly encountered example of Copeland Spode’s iconic Italian pattern, this small square plate is transfer printed in a rich mulberry colorway, a much more elusive variation than the familiar blue Italian most often seen today. The plate features the wonderfully detailed Italian landscape at its center, surrounded by the elaborate floral and Asian-inspired border that has made Spode’s Italian one of the pottery’s most recognizable and enduring designs. Its softly squared form with gently shaped corners is particularly charming and, at 5.75 inches, makes a lovely dessert, tea or small sandwich plate. It would also be beautiful displayed on a plate wall or layered into a collection of English transferware. The reverse bears the oval COPELAND / SPODE’S ITALIAN / ENGLAND backstamp, a mark used from approximately 1891–1970. It bears an impressed COPELAND over the crown mark which was used from 1869-1970, but no impressed date code. Thus, I have retained that broader date range rather than assign a more specific date of manufacture. Sourced at an antique market in Florence, Italy, this lovely piece is an especially appealing find for collectors of Spode, English transferware, and the harder-to-find mulberry "purple" colorway. We have a 7-day return policy on NEW items, which means you have 7 days after receiving your item to request a return. You will be refunded in store credit to be spent at Shoplilliangrey.com within 6 months.
Vintage and antique items cannot be refunded or returned unless it has been damaged in the shipping process. We require photos of the item(s) and packaging, (which will help us to assess the handling process and prevent further losses.) After which point you will be issued a full refund on your order.

If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

Damages and issues
Within 10 days of delivery - Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.
Exceptions / non-returnable items

That item is now yours, we can only refund you in store credit for Shoplilliangrey.com if the item was damaged in the shipping process. (Some items have endured some alterations to their original state and will be sold AS IS. Please take note of each item's description to see if the unique character is suitable to you.)
Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards.
Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item. You have 7 days from the delivery date to initiate your return on NEW items only.
Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded in store credit once approved.
