Pair of Vintage Italian Rococo Carved Giltwood Wall Brackets / Sconces, c. 1950 – 8”H

A beautiful pair of vintage Italian carved giltwood wall brackets, richly ornamented with scrolling acanthus leaves and dramatic Rococo-inspired curves.

Each bracket is hand-carved in wood with a warm aged gilt finish and a shaped upper shelf designed to display a small porcelain figure, vase, candlestick, or other treasured object. The sculptural scrollwork gives the pair wonderful depth and movement, making them just as striking displayed empty as they are styled.

These have the classic decorative character of mid-century Italian Florentine giltwood, drawing heavily from 18th-century Rococo and Baroque forms. Similar Italian brackets from the 1950s were produced as decorative wall accents for elegant interiors and remain especially desirable for flanking mirrors, artwork, doorways, or architectural niches.
