Antique Victorian Tshell & Mother-of-Pearl Sewing Etui | Complete Fitted Sewing Box | Lavender Satin Interior | Jackson-Mitchell Provenance | 4”

An exquisite antique Victorian Tshell and mother-of-pearl sewing etui, beautifully preserved with its original fitted interior and sewing implements still intact.

The case is constructed in richly mottled tortoiseshell with luminous mother-of-pearl panels to the front, sides, and top, creating a striking contrast of warm brown, amber, and iridescent pearl. The top is inset with a small silver cartouche engraved “F. A. Jacobs,” believed to represent a former owner.

Opening the hinged lid reveals a wonderfully preserved lavender satin interior, fitted with individual compartments for the original sewing accessories. The surviving pieces include the ornate handled scissors, thimble, measuring tape, sewing stiletto/awl, and additional small sewing implements. The pointed stiletto was originally used for piercing or enlarging holes in fabric for fine sewing and embroidery work.

The scissors appear to retain period steel blades with highly decorative silver-colored handles. Several of the sewing implements have the appearance of silver, though no sterling marks have been located on the individual pieces, so silver content is not guaranteed unless professionally tested.

The underside retains an original Jackson-Mitchell, Centreville, Delaware dealer label, providing an additional layer of provenance. Jackson-Mitchell was a respected American dealer known for English furniture and decorative arts.

Condition: Approximately 9/10 antique condition. Exceptionally well preserved overall with the fitted case, hinge, lavender satin lining, interior compartments, and original sewing implements intact. Light age-related surface wear is present, consistent with age and use. Please review all photographs carefully for condition and details.
