A charming early twentieth-century demitasse flat cup in Spode’s iconic Tower pattern, produced by Copeland Spode in Stoke-on-Trent, England. First introduced by Spode in 1814, Tower has remained one of the pottery’s most recognizable and enduring transferware patterns for more than two centuries. Its romantic landscape depicts the Ponte Salaro near Rome, derived from a late eighteenth-century view of the Italian countryside. Rendered in a wonderfully rich, dark cobalt blue against a warm creamy ground, the pattern is one of Spode’s most enduring blue and white designs. Petite in scale but beautifully detailed, this demitasse cup features the Tower landscape wrapping around the exterior, a delicate scalloped rim and a wonderfully decorative handle accented in cobalt blue. Originally intended for serving strong coffee, its diminutive size remains perfect for espresso today. Beyond the table, these little cups make charming decorative pieces. Display one among a collection of antique blue and white china, use it as a tiny vessel for flowers, or thread a beautiful ribbon through the handle and hang it from a Christmas tree as an unexpected piece of antique china ornamentation. The underside bears the old blue printed Copeland Spode’s Tower England backstamp. No impressed production date code is present. These cups were acquired as part of a single auction lot of older Copeland Spode Tower Blue tableware and serving pieces, several of which retain factory date codes establishing production in the 1910s and 1920s. Based on the backstamp, form and context of the group, these examples are believed to date to the early twentieth century. Excellent condition with no chips or cracks. Clean and bright with only light wear and other signs of age consistent with early twentieth-century tableware. Please review photographs carefully as they form part of the description.

We have a 7-day return policy on NEW items, which means you have 7 days after receiving your item to request a return. You will be refunded in store credit to be spent at Shoplilliangrey.com within 6 months.
Vintage and antique items cannot be refunded or returned unless it has been damaged in the shipping process. We require photos of the item(s) and packaging, (which will help us to assess the handling process and prevent further losses.) After which point you will be issued a full refund on your order.

If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

Damages and issues
Within 10 days of delivery - Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

That item is now yours, we can only refund you in store credit for Shoplilliangrey.com if the item was damaged in the shipping process. (Some items have endured some alterations to their original state and will be sold AS IS. Please take note of each item's description to see if the unique character is suitable to you.)
Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards.
Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item. You have 7 days from the delivery date to initiate your return on NEW items only.
Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded in store credit once approved.
