Bring a touch of 19th-century French elegance to your desk, library, or vignette with this charming Gien faience double inkwell stand, beautifully decorated in a romantic pink transferware pattern. Rich with classical influence, the design features cherubs, scrolling florals, and portrait medallions framed by ornate Rococo-inspired details, while a pair of sculptural dolphins gracefully flank the top and a shell-form pen tray completes the composition.
Produced by the esteemed French faience manufacturer Gien, founded in 1821 in the Loire Valley, this piece reflects the firm’s reputation for artistic earthenware and finely executed transfer-printed decoration. The underside bears the historic Gien castle mark, dating this example to the late Victorian period, circa 1875–1900.
Originally designed as a writing desk accessory, the stand would have held two removable porcelain inkwells with fitted lids, allowing the owner to keep separate inks close at hand. The shell-shaped reservoir at the back served as a convenient resting place for quill pens and dip pens between use. While the original ink pots and lids are no longer present, the stand remains a highly decorative and collectible piece of French deskware.
Today, it can be beautifully repurposed as:

We have a 7-day return policy on NEW items, which means you have 7 days after receiving your item to request a return. You will be refunded in store credit to be spent at Shoplilliangrey.com within 6 months.
Vintage and antique items cannot be refunded or returned unless it has been damaged in the shipping process. We require photos of the item(s) and packaging, (which will help us to assess the handling process and prevent further losses.) After which point you will be issued a full refund on your order.

If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

Damages and issues
Within 10 days of delivery - Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.
Exceptions / non-returnable items

Each item has its own unique story, if you are not happy with the item then we hope we can continue your story with our company and find something that suits you better. That item is now yours, we can only refund you in store credit for Shoplilliangrey.com if the item was damaged in the shipping process. (Some items have endured some alterations to their original state and will be sold AS IS. Please take note of each item's description to see if the unique character is suitable to you.)
Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards.
Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item. You have 7 days from the delivery date to initiate your return on NEW items only.
Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded in store credit once approved.
