A scarce example of early American historical Staffordshire, this striking dark cobalt blue transferware plate was produced by Enoch Wood & Sons of Burslem, Staffordshire, England, circa 1820s–1830s. Created for the American export market, the plate belongs to Enoch Wood & Sons’ Shell Border with Circular Center series. An elaborate border of seashells surrounds a Hudson River landscape, beautifully rendered in the rich cobalt blue characteristic of early historical Staffordshire. The reverse bears a cobalt American eagle backstamp identifying the scene as “HIGH LANDS / HUDSON RIVER / NEAR NEWBURGH.” Interestingly, this 6½-inch form has also been documented as Highlands at West Point, Hudson River, with surviving examples bearing the same Near Newburgh backstamp. This period discrepancy between the printed title and identification of the depicted view is a fascinating feature of the pattern. The underside also carries an impressed Enoch Wood & Sons eagle mark with Burslem, Warranted and Semi China, further identifying its Staffordshire manufacture. Excellent antique condition with no chips, cracks or nicks noted. Fine overall crazing and minor evidence of age are consistent with a piece approximately 200 years old. We have a 7-day return policy on NEW items, which means you have 7 days after receiving your item to request a return. You will be refunded in store credit to be spent at Shoplilliangrey.com within 6 months.
Vintage and antique items cannot be refunded or returned unless it has been damaged in the shipping process. We require photos of the item(s) and packaging, (which will help us to assess the handling process and prevent further losses.) After which point you will be issued a full refund on your order.

If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

Damages and issues
Within 10 days of delivery - Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.
Exceptions / non-returnable items

That item is now yours, we can only refund you in store credit for Shoplilliangrey.com if the item was damaged in the shipping process. (Some items have endured some alterations to their original state and will be sold AS IS. Please take note of each item's description to see if the unique character is suitable to you.)
Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards.
Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item. You have 7 days from the delivery date to initiate your return on NEW items only.
Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded in store credit once approved.
