A beautiful large antique serving platter in Spode’s iconic Tower pattern, produced by Copeland Spode in Stoke-on-Trent, England, during the early twentieth century. First introduced by Spode in 1814, Tower has remained one of the pottery’s most recognizable and enduring transferware patterns for more than two centuries. Its romantic landscape depicts the Ponte Salaro near Rome, derived from a late eighteenth-century view of the Italian countryside. Rendered in a wonderfully rich, dark cobalt blue against a warm creamy ground, the scene is surrounded by an elaborate floral border and distinctive gadrooned edge. This substantial oval serving platter can be dated precisely through the impressed “F14” factory date mark, indicating production in February 1914. The reverse also bears impressed factory markings along with the early blue printed Copeland Spode Tower backstamp. Now more than 110 years old, it is an exceptionally well-preserved example of early twentieth-century English transferware. Measuring an impressive 15 inches in length, this generous serving piece is beautiful and functional for presenting roasts, poultry, vegetables or an abundant arrangement of fruit. Its substantial scale also makes it especially striking displayed on a hutch, sideboard, plate rack or wall, where the richly detailed cobalt Tower scene can be fully appreciated. Excellent antique condition with no chips or cracks. Clean and bright with only light wear consistent with age and more than a century of careful use. We have a 7-day return policy on NEW items, which means you have 7 days after receiving your item to request a return. You will be refunded in store credit to be spent at Shoplilliangrey.com within 6 months.
Vintage and antique items cannot be refunded or returned unless it has been damaged in the shipping process. We require photos of the item(s) and packaging, (which will help us to assess the handling process and prevent further losses.) After which point you will be issued a full refund on your order.

If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

Damages and issues
Within 10 days of delivery - Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

(Some items have endured some alterations to their original state and will be sold AS IS. Please take note of each item's description to see if the unique character is suitable to you.)
Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards.
Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item. You have 7 days from the delivery date to initiate your return on NEW items only.
Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded in store credit once approved.
