A handsome antique English three-bottle tantalus dating to around the turn of the twentieth century, beautifully combining warm oak, silver-plated hardware, cut crystal, and sterling silver details.
The substantial oak frame holds three matching square-form cut crystal decanters, each finished with a large faceted crystal stopper. The bottles have a wonderfully architectural cut pattern that catches the light beautifully and gives the entire piece exceptional presence on a bar, library table, or collected sideboard.
Each decanter is accompanied by an ornate sterling silver liquor label suspended from a silver chain and engraved Brandy, Port, and Whisky. The elaborate shell and foliate borders add another layer of traditional English detail and contrast beautifully against the crystal.
The oak tantalus itself features decorative metal mounts, an arched carrying handle, and its original locking mechanism. The hardware is marked EPNS, denoting electroplated nickel silver. Most importantly, the original key is included, allowing the locking mechanism to be enjoyed as originally intended.
Tantalus sets were designed so that the decanters could remain visible while access to the spirits was controlled by the locking frame—making them both practical barware and wonderful examples of late-Victorian and Edwardian entertaining culture.

Condition: Excellent antique condition with beautiful age-appropriate character to the oak and metalwork. Crystal presents beautifully. Light surface wear and patina are consistent with age and use. Please review photographs closely as they form part of the condition description.
This is an especially decorative example with the added appeal of its three crystal decanters, sterling labels, and surviving original key—a wonderful statement piece for an English-inspired bar or collected home.

We have a 7-day return policy on NEW items, which means you have 7 days after receiving your item to request a return. You will be refunded in store credit to be spent at Shoplilliangrey.com within 6 months.
Vintage and antique items cannot be refunded or returned unless it has been damaged in the shipping process. We require photos of the item(s) and packaging, (which will help us to assess the handling process and prevent further losses.) After which point you will be issued a full refund on your order.

If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

Damages and issues
Within 10 days of delivery - Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.
Exceptions / non-returnable items

Each item has its own unique story, if you are not happy with the item then we hope we can continue your story with our company and find something that suits you better. That item is now yours, we can only refund you in store credit for Shoplilliangrey.com if the item was damaged in the shipping process. (Some items have endured some alterations to their original state and will be sold AS IS. Please take note of each item's description to see if the unique character is suitable to you.)
Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards.
Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item. You have 7 days from the delivery date to initiate your return on NEW items only.
Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded in store credit once approved.
