A beautiful and wonderfully petite Victorian calling card case, crafted in richly mottled T*******shell and finished with an engraved sterling silver panel accented by a carved mother-of-pearl cartouche.

The silver panel features delicate engine-turned detailing and a central belt-and-buckle motif surrounding the pearl inset, giving this diminutive case the feel of a personal Victorian luxury object. The warm tortoiseshell frame contrasts beautifully with the cool silver and luminous mother-of-pearl.

The original hinged lid retains its working antique latch and opens and closes securely. Inside is the original red velvet lining, adding another lovely layer of period detail.

This is a true calling card or business card case rather than a modern credit-card holder. Its petite proportions will not accommodate standard credit cards.

Condition: Approximately 9/10 antique condition. Beautifully preserved overall with age-appropriate surface wear. There is a small crack along the hinge seam, as shown, which does not prevent the case from opening, closing, or latching properly. Original red velvet interior remains intact.
